I wanted to share my latest obsession with you. If you have not seen this movie yet, drop what you are doing and head to the theater. Make sure you see it in 3d; I'm not sure what you'll miss in the 2D version, but 3D is just plain awesome. I have seen this three times in the past week and I really want to see it again. I don't mind throwing down $11.50 each showing; it's totally worth it. The only word in my vocabulary on leaving the theater the first time was "Wow". So now that I've run the risk of building it up so much you'll be disappointed (if that's possible), do yourself a favor and go see it. I brought my parents and my father in law and they all loved it too. It's one of those movies that people applaud for even though there's no chance anyone involved in the making of it will be there to hear it.

I saw it in IMAX 3D, and I recommend going that route. I'll put the brakes on and tell you that the plot is an okay sci-fi plot. Not the preachiest thing I've seen, but it could be seen that way. But Kevin Smith said it was the coolest thing he had seen since the original Star Wars, and coming from him, that is some high praise.

So, as part of my Avatar obsession, I got really curious about Na'vi anatomy. I mean, the sex scene is so obscure they could just be hugging for all you can tell. I've totally been weirding Hazzard out with my out-loud musings and I wanted to share some of it:

9:28 AM me: by the way, if you weren't weirded out enough by my curiosity earlier... all I've been able to gather so far is that Na'vi are "not placental mammals". Whatever that means. Which also means their belly buttons and boobs make no sense
9:33 AM James: /sigh
me: =)

10:17 AM me: huh
James: God help us all if this is about Avatar.
me: I read a comment that had a theory that the braid thing isn't ... ok this isn't about avatar >.>
James: Go ahead. =p
me: hehe
10:18 AM ok, so this guy proposed that the "you'll go blind if you play with that" comment might have been literal
well
sort of... like you will lose one of your senses if you break it
10:19 AM and then another comment from someone who is supposedly a friend of a friend of Cameron (heh) says they mate like humans, but the braid bond is involved in the mate for life process
10:20 AM James: My brothers roommates wifes best friend saw James Cameron pass out at 31 flavors last night! I guess it's pretty serious.
me: lol
=)
10:21 AM lol now they're calling the bond "ponytail ****"
as in "Did anyone else notice that she didn't need to ponytail **** that Jaguar creature before she rode it to fight Mech-Suit Scarface?"
rofl
10:22 AM James: STOP IT BAD CINDY NO BISCUIT
me: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I think the boobs would still sorta make sense. I mean, that's pretty much what "mammal" means: mammary glands.

As for the belly buttons... yeah that makes no sense.

Maybe they grow out of the ground, like trees? Only other thing I can imagine is eggs, the kind with a shell, not ova.
